Much of my reflection on the previous site came out of some other searching within myself and asking myself if I am properly prepared when I receive communion. One thing I know I can and should do more often is go to confession with metered regularity. Anyhow, I'll probably talk about this later.

when i DV come back to ottawa, let's talk about this; right now i am still pondering.
am missing u and ur beloved mouse.
we miss you too Elizabeth.
thanks... it was good to briefly talk to ur beloved today... life is so strange; that one can be home and yet not fully home... looking forward to seeing you both again soon... :)
i think the issue of preparedness for the eucharist is one that is a bug-bear for some. i see it rather pragmatically; it like a medicine and you need it. you should thankfully partake as regularly as you may, as you need it, even if you don't know to what extent. but the point about preparing is important. continuing with my medical analogy: certain procedures in medicine are more efficacious if dietary or physical exercises are followed prior to the procedure. same, too, with preparing for the eucharist. yet if the level of preparedness is meager, the medical procedure will usually still aid the patient to some extent. likewise with the eucharist.
the big thing to bear in mind with regard to preparation is this: the preparation does not make you 'ready' per se; you can't ever purify yourself enough to accept the holy gifts. accordingly it is only in a spirit of gratitude and in an awareness of my spiritual neediness that i can approach the chalice. that thankfulness and neediness are the sine qua non.
interesting post...
